Dario G, 'Sunchyme' dance music producer, dies aged 53

Darcy Gervais, better known as Dario G, has been remembered as a 'true legend'

Dario G was best known for his 1997 dance anthem 'Sunchyme', which reached number two in the UK Singles Chart.

The 53-year-old DJ and producer also enjoyed success with tracks including 'Carnaval De Paris' and 'Dream To Me'.

Tributes have been paid to G, with many describing him as a "pioneer" of the dance music scene.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong said: "Dario was a true legend in the dance music scene. His music was always innovative and exciting, and he was a true pioneer.

"He will be sadly missed by all who knew him."

G's death was announced on the official Facebook page of his record label, Positiva Records.

A statement said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and artist, Dario G.

"Dario's music touched the lives of so many people around the world, and he will be remembered as one of the true pioneers of the dance music scene.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."

The cause of G's death has not been revealed.
